Sprucing Up the Prayer Corner!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been obsessed with these prints that Maria over at Kinder-Craze has created.  Well, actually I am obsessed with her whole classroom, it’s beautiful!

Anywho, I e-mailed Maria to see where she got the adorable frames for her quotes, and she told me that she got them at Michael’s during Spring or Summer.  I’ve tried to find other frames like it, but they were all more than I was willing to pay, so I kept checking back at Michael’s, and lo and behold, look what I found!!!!

Sorry for the blurry image, I was just so excited to find them!  I picked up two 5 x7’s for $3.99 each, and a cross.  Do you all have the Michael’s app downloaded to your phone?  If you don’t you really should.  I always forget to bring the coupons, but with this app, you can just search for the coupon you need while you are in the store, and the cashier will scan it from your phone, amazing!  I picked up a couple of paints for 69 cents each as well.

The most difficult task was getting off the sticky paper with the barcode on it.  I scraped and scraped, and then washed it with warm soapy water, and it finally came off.

Next I painted my pieces.  I wasn’t really paying attention to which side that I painted on, and there is definitely I smoother side that is less grainy that you are SUPPOSED to paint on.
After I realized that I painted on the wrong side, I just decided to paint both sides of the frame to cover up my mistake.
Next, I printed up the quotes from Maria using photo paper.  The photo paper really made them look clear and bright.  I decided to attach the quotes with a spray adhesive.

This worked okay, but I would have preferred to use decoupage, we just didn’t have any in the house at the moment, and we did have spray adhesive. (Have you seen those Pinterest recipes for making at home decoupage?  It’s just supposed to be half Elmer’s glue, half water!  Let me know if this has worked for anyone, because that would save me a ton of money!)
I am so happy how they turned out!  I am not creative, but I can copy people’s wonderful ideas like nobody’s business! I added some scraps of wood that my husband had laying around with some hot glue to support the frames.
They are very cheap frames, so they don’t come with all of the fancy accessories like glass or a pop out piece to stand them up.  These frames would also look wonderful in book display holders too.
I am loving my new prayer area, those frames and quotes just brighten everything up, and make it so much more inviting for the little ones! Thanks Maria! I am so obsessed with these frames, I am trying to see what else I can make with them in the classroom!
