One of my favorite spaces in my classroom is our prayer corner. This little area gives my students a quiet and meaningful place to reflect, pray, and connect with God throughout the day. Recently, I found the perfect finishing touches for this space thanks to a wonderful idea from Maria over at Kinder-Craze. She created the most beautiful printable scripture quotes, and I knew I had to include them in my classroom.
I reached out to Maria to ask where she found the charming frames she used for her prints, and she told me she purchased them from Michaels during the spring and summer seasons. I searched everywhere for similar frames, but most options I found were far too expensive for my classroom budget. Determined to find a good deal, I kept checking back at Michael’s—and my persistence paid off!
I found two 5×7 frames for only $3.99 each, along with a small decorative cross. If you shop at Michaels and don’t have their app yet, I highly recommend downloading it. I often forget to bring paper coupons to the store, but with the app, you can search for the coupon you need while shopping, and the cashier can scan it directly from your phone. It’s a great way to save money on classroom projects!

While I was there, I also picked up a few bottles of craft paint for just 69 cents each. My plan was to customize the frames to match the warm, inviting atmosphere of my prayer corner.
Prepping and Painting the Frames
The most time-consuming part of the project was removing the sticky barcode labels from the back of the frames. A little scraping and warm, soapy water finally did the trick.
When painting, I realized that one side of the frame was smoother and less grainy—perfect for getting an even coat of paint. Of course, I had already started on the rougher side without noticing, so I simply painted both sides to cover up the difference. Sometimes a small mistake turns into a happy accident!

Once the paint dried, I printed Maria’s scripture quotes on glossy photo paper. This made the colors vibrant and the text crystal clear—perfect for catching my students’ attention. To attach the prints to the frames, I used spray adhesive since I didn’t have decoupage on hand. Spray adhesive worked fine, but if you prefer, you can make homemade decoupage by mixing equal parts white school glue and water. (If you’ve tried this method, I’d love to hear how it worked for you!)
Displaying the Finished Pieces
Because these frames were inexpensive, they didn’t come with glass fronts or built-in stands. To display them upright, I hot-glued a few small pieces of scrap wood to the backs for support. You could also place them in book display stands, which would work beautifully and make it easy to move them around your classroom.

When I placed the finished frames and cross in the prayer corner, the entire space felt warmer and more inviting. My students are naturally drawn to it now, and I’ve noticed them spending more time there during quiet moments. The scripture quotes not only add beauty but also provide daily reminders of God’s love and guidance.

My Favorite Prayer Corner Additions for Kindergarten
If you’re thinking about creating or refreshing a prayer corner in your own classroom, here are a few of my favorite elements to include:
- Scripture or faith-based quote prints – Just like the ones from Maria, these can be switched out seasonally or tied to themes you’re teaching.
- A small cross or crucifix – A central visual reminder of our faith.
- Child-friendly Bibles or Bible storybooks – Perfect for independent or guided reading.
- Rosaries or prayer beads – In a small basket so students can access them respectfully.
- A soft prayer rug or cushion – Creates a cozy, inviting place for students to kneel or sit.
- Seasonal decorations – Small, tasteful items like flowers, candles (battery-operated), or themed table runners that change with the liturgical seasons.
Creating a prayer corner doesn’t require a large budget—just a little creativity and some thoughtful touches. Affordable frames, beautiful prints, and a few meaningful items can transform any small area into a peaceful, sacred space for young learners.
Thanks to Maria’s inspiration and a lucky shopping trip to Michael’s, my prayer corner is now one of the most cherished spots in my classroom. I love how it encourages my students to pause, reflect, and grow in their faith—one quiet moment at a time.
