PE Resources for Distance Learning

Does your school require you to give PE instruction during distance learning? If they do, or if you just see the benefit in keeping your kids moving I have some resources to share with you today!

It’s easy to get sucked into a bad attitude during this difficult time. I find myself getting restless and frustrated while at the same time knowing that I am beyond fortunate in my circumstances. My daily walks around the neighborhood have helped, and I love to see how many kids are out on their bikes, throwing a ball around, or decorating our sidewalks with chalk. Prior to this, I rarely saw kids outside!

Social distancing is hard for adults, but equally as hard for kids! It’s important that we provide them opportunities to move and get out their energy for all of the reasons listed below.

Here are some online activities your kids can do right in their living rooms. GoNoodle is one that I used almost daily in my classroom. There are so many activities to choose from! I know that a lot of teachers use Cosmic Yoga as well.

PE with Joe is a new resource. He’s been doing fitness videos on YouTube for a long time, but during this pandemic has shifted into the role of PE coach!

That’s one of the things that I’ve loved about people/businesses during this difficult time. So many have stepped up to provide for their customers and make their lives a little bit easier : )

Girl Scout Skylar from the Kellytown Troop 40 found this awesome article detailing TONS of ways to stay active at home! Send this article home to parents, or use it to fill out P.E. home choice or bingo sheets for your students! Thanks Skylar!

Let’s Move: Staying Active for Kids

I was trying to think of a resource that you could send out to your students to help them track their activity level. I made these exercise color by code sheets that you can email to parents. Have students color 2 or 3 spaces (or however many you choose) each time they do an exercise video.
