Do you have individual rewards or prizes in your classroom? These behavior punch cards are an easy way to keep track of a student’s progress and cost a lot less than sticker charts!
Individual Motivation
You can use behavior punch cards with students who are on an individual behavior plan, or with the whole class.
I used to use my behavior punch cards with a clip chart. Students would get one punch for green, 2 for purple, etc. Since then, I’ve found alternatives to the clip chart and use these mostly with students that need a little extra motivation.
When they get to 20 punches they can choose something out of our reward book. I used to only have a treasure chest and when I moved to the reward book I thought most students would stick to a tangible prize.
I couldn’t have been more wrong! I’ve saved so much money on treasure box supplies after switching to a rewards book.
Student Responsibility
Another reason I like behavior punch cards is for the student responsibility aspect. Students keep their punch cards in their pencil boxes, and it’s on them to bring them to me and to turn them in once they get 20 punches.
If you are using the punch card for individual students you can give them one punch a day, or multiple punches. You can do one after each activity if you are really trying to get the student on track.
