Recognizing CVC word families is an important beginning reading skill. Word families help students observe patterns within words which helps them to read and spell more fluently.

This resource contains picture cards for 18 different word families. The word families mostly include CVC words but there are a couple of words with beginning blends included in a few of the sets.

You will also find 18 different worksheets for your students to practice sorting between two different word families by looking at a picture and isolating the sounds. Check out the preview to get a better understanding of the layout.
